FELT BEADS

I found the instructions to make these felt beads in some things that my mother gave me when she visited. It was from an old copy of People's Friend magazine (not a magazine I see very often unless in the dentist or doctors waiting room !).
The beads are made by wrapping length of felt around a skewer and securing with contrasting embroidery thread. They can be wrapped again with thread with seed beads on or left plain as these ones are. I love the vivid colours and think that they will make great childrens necklaces or bracelets etc.

I will post photos when I decide what to do with these ones.

DAISY DRESS.

I wanted to make a simple Autumn/Winter dress that the girls could wear over a long sleeved t.shirt and tights to keep them snug and warm. I came up with the idea for this dress from an old Simplicity pattern I have had for years for a gypsy style top that I made for Freya when she was a toddler. I used the basic pattern and just made it longer. I am really pleased with the result and shall be making lots more. This particular one was ordered for a little girls 4th birthday, her name is Daisy, hence the daisy on the front.

I HAD A GOOD GO !

Well I have had a good do at my list, got the stockings done, three cushions and a dress. The apron, bags and other dresses will have to go on to tomorrows list. I did manage to cook a roast dinner and sort laundry out, so altogether not a bad day.

MY WORKSPACE

This is my workspace, it is in a small corner of my kitchen and competes with children going in and out and piles of shoes that magically accumulate nearby.

Its cluttered but I like it that way, I have access to the dining table behind me to spread out on to, but all has to be cleared away for meal times, so not ideal.

Everything is close to hand, drawers of threads, buttons and ribbons, books for inspiration and a lamp for those long evenings.

Its my space in a corner of our house, its where I create, design and think things out. It is where it all begins.
