Had a bit of a fabric splurge this last week, fivevalleysdesigns.com are closing their website and had an amazing 40% off ! all stock ! How could I not purchase a few bits with a discount like that !... If you are very lucky there may just be a few things left, but they were selling out fast..
A few of these are destined to become dresses and skirts for the girls..
They also had some patterns and books, so I went for this Amy Butler dress pattern, it is sized for girls as well as women, and thought it would make a nice little dress/tunic for Freya, I have a lot of patterns for the younger two girls but none for a 10 year old Freya..
I also struggle for knitting patterns for the older two, hopefully this book will rectify that as it is in sizes 5 to 10yrs and also has a couple of boy things (Finn might finally have something made for him !).. I love the hat and cardie on the front..
Having said that I bought it to knit for the older two, Hebe got in first and I have started on this dress for her...
Lastly, I finally got round to buying Anna Maria Horner's new book..
I have used the patterns from her earlier book 'Seams to me' a lot. and this one also shows a lot of promise. The thing that I like about her books is that the pattern pieces are printed onto nice thick paper individually, so they are ready to just cut out, no tracing patterns etc, so much easier..
Loving the fabrics you've purchased and WOW that dress pattern!
ReplyDeleteOn your recommendation I have also purchased "Seams To Me" :)

Oh wow! I wish I had a little stash of goodies like that to look forward to in the post today. Instead I've got some hand weights so that I can start my new Hannah Waterman DVD. Yawn. I know which I'd rather have!
ReplyDeleteOoh, yummy fabrics...can't wait to see what you make...
ReplyDeleteI got the Flexi Frames at a craft Fair, but you can get online on Ebay, Etsy, Uhandbag...they aren't cheap tho, so hard to make something to sell ;(
So much creativity, in such lovely fabrics! The girls are really lucky - and I look forward to seeing any boy-stuff you make, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous fabrics, and patterns too. i never stopped sewing when my daughter, and then my g/daughter, were young.
ReplyDeleteYou are right - I went onto the site and most things had sold out - not surprising really!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some great buys.

What a fun timne you must have had buying that lot.
ReplyDeleteThe knitting patterns look great. I hadn't realised that the Amy Butler patterns included girls as well as adult.
I am really coveting both of AMH books - have them sitting in my amazon wish list hoping they'll purchase themselves! I'm not sure I'd be able to bring myself to cut out the patterns tho - I think tracing them is too ingrained in me (would be a whole lot easier tho'). Juliex
Lovely fabrics you have there.
ReplyDeleteThe green swap has arrived today -thank you so much, I love it!
Yours is on the way, hopefully with you by Friday.

You must have been quick! the ones I wanted went really fast. well done.
ReplyDeleteJust popped by to say hello! love your fabric bargains! And look forward to seeing the results! Feel free to pop by and say Hi. Looking forward to following your posts. Karenxxx
ReplyDeleteSo talented to be able to make garments. I'm thinking about going to a class - I do so wish I had paid more attention to Mrs Hatton in needlework classes! I have lots of clothes that would probably benefit from a bit of a nip/tuck/titivate - baring the fact that I can't do the same to my body! And a comment for Bridget - why, oh why would you want to look like Hannah Waterman? She was so much better with a bit more flesh on her - fabric vs keep fit - no contest, surely?
ReplyDeleteMaria, you have certainly chosen some sweet fabrics and I am anxious to see them made into outfits for your girls . The book looks really interesting as well and lucky you to be a knitter too , I use to knit but haven't in years . Just to let you know your letter is in the mail , I know I am a little tardy but at least it is now on the way .
