BACK TO AND STARTING SCHOOL.....

Freya and Finn both started back at school today, Freya into her final year at Primary (Year six) and Finn into Year Five.  They both seem to have enjoyed their first day back and Finn really likes his new teacher (Freya has the same one that she had last year, who she also likes)...

It was only when I looked at this photo that I realised just how alike they are, it is no wonder that they are often mistaken for twins ! There is actually 15 months between them..

It was Hebe's first afternoon at school today, she will do afternoons this week, mornings next week and will then be in full time...

Its strange listening to other parents talking about what they will do without their babies and how they are going to cope..I seem to look at it in a different way, I think its great that the children are all growing up into such great individuals and think that independence is a good thing... Maybe I am the strange one !...

  1. They really are alike (Finn and Angus are a similar age gap but look so different its hard to believe they are related at all!). Hope Hebe gets on well. I can understand what you are saying but I must admit to already being a bit nervous about Islay going to school next year, but maybe that's partly because I think she's going to find it quite hard being one of the very youngest.
They all look very smart. Juliex

  3. Our big girls are in years 5 and 6 too! They really do look alike, and both so beautiful as well. Little Hebe will have a great time at school I'm quite sure. It's nice that she will have her big brother and sister there if she needs them.

I don't think you are strange at all. I think it's great that you are OK with them all going to school. People like us have so much else going on that we won't ever be short of something to keep us busy. I think if your children are prepared properly for school then you have nothing to worry about anyway. It's the children that can't look after themselves and aren't independant that are needing to be worried about. I'd say that you've done a great job and you should be feeling just fine about them leaving you.

  4. They are very alike, really could be twins and doesn't Hebe look cute yet so grown up ? My youngest started today as I nearly did the blubbing thing but held it together ! He was only 4 at the end of July, one of the youngest, which has turned me into a bit of a manic panicking mum ! But he's proved me wrong, came home on a high & even has a letter about swimmming lessons & his first trip which are both before the end of the month! I'll get there x

  5. Freya and Finn do look alike don't they? My two have just 16mths between them but as Max now towers over Holly, people often think he is the eldest! I was upset last year when he started reception but am feeling immensley proud this year, he is turning into a 'grand young lad' as we say in Yorkshire!!

  6. Gosh aren't they alike - can see why they are mistaken for twins.

I was lucky both mine settled into primary school very quickly - I never had any worries about them. I hope its the same for Hebe too :)

  7. The do look similar! Mine have been very similar in size at some times, but at the moment there's a huge gap between them - Son 1 has had a massive growing spurt.

I also wondered if I was a bit heartless to be happy with them starting school/going up a school. But like you, I am so proud to see them independent and ready to move out in the world. So I don't think you're odd at all, unless I am too!

  8. Oh, they look so very cute. I don't think you're the strange one. The growing happens so fast, but it's so very rewarding. Have a great week.

  10. Goodness me are you sure they are not twins? I suppose I must believe you! I enjoy watching my two grow up - my 'little' girl started school 10 years ago now! With their independance comes greater freedom for mums and dads which has to be a good thing!

  11. They all look so lovely in their uniforms! I was distraught when my youngest started school and now they are all leaving home and it is even worse! I keep having dreams that I am having another baby! I'm sure your attitude is much healthier.
